| The IPR-GDF SUEZ Australia business is part of IPR-GDF SUEZ, a global company which operates in six core regions around the world.
In February 2011, International Power plc combined with GDF SUEZ’s Energy International Business Areas outside Europe and certain assets in the UK and Turkey to form a world leader in independent power generation, with more than 72GW of power generation (gross) in operation and 15GW gross capacity under construction. As one of Australia’s leading independent power generators, IPR-GDF SUEZ has approximately 750 employees across the national business. The company has power stations in Victoria, Western Australia and South Australia. Construction of the company’s first wind farm near Millicent in the south east of South Australia was completed in 2005. The 46 MW Canunda Wind Farm has 23 wind turbines and can produce enough power to supply 30,000 homes. IPR-GDF SUEZ’s retail business, Simply Energy, is based in Melbourne and Adelaide and serves both the Victorian and South Australian markets. |
