01/04/08 – NEW ASSET MANAGER APPOINTED TO LYB POWER STATION

International Power Australia has announced that International Power Hazelwood (IPRH) Mining Director, Mr Steve Rieniets, has been appointed to the position of Asset Manager with International Power Mitsui Loy Yang B.

IPRH Chief Executive, Mr Graeme York, welcomed the decision and said the appointment reflected Steve’s strong performance as a key member of Hazelwood’s senior management team.

“Steve Rieniets was selected from a strong field of international candidates to head up International Power’s Loy Yang B power station, and he is an excellent choice to take over from Mr Alistair Tompkin who is retiring in July,” Mr York said.

Steve is a Chartered Engineer and has been the Mining Director at Hazelwood since 1999. Prior to this role, he had worked in the US with a partner business. He is also a Board Member of the Minerals Council of Australia and chairs a number of Victorian organisations including the Gippsland branch of VECCI.

Mr Rieniets will formally commence the new role from early July 2008 following a suitable handover period from Mr Tompkin.
